Where Yoga & Ayurveda Come Together

Yoga and Ayurveda have traditionally been closely connected, with both offering approaches to supporting balance and wellbeing.

At Preksha, the two naturally come together. Yoga creates space for awareness, movement and inner stillness, while Ayurveda offers a framework for understanding the body, lifestyle and individual needs.

Meet Dr. Suvira Bandekar

Dr. Suvira (Yamuna) Bandekar, B.A.M.S.

The current Preksha page describes Dr. Suvira as an Ayurvedic physician from Goa who completed her Ayurvedic degree and internship at G.A.M.R.C. College, Shiroda, and has experience in Ayurvedic consultation and Panchakarma treatments.

Her approach combines traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with a practical understanding of individual health and wellbeing.

Your Ayurvedic Journey

Begin With A Consultation

Rather than choosing treatments yourself, your Ayurvedic experience begins with understanding your individual constitution and needs.

Discuss your health, lifestyle and wellbeing with the Ayurvedic physician.

This initial conversation helps you share your concerns, habits and expectations. It provides the foundation for understanding your individual needs and planning your Ayurvedic journey.

Traditional Ayurvedic assessment may include Prakriti analysis and Nadi Pariksha, particularly when determining a Panchakarma protocol.

These assessments help the Ayurvedic physician understand your individual constitution and current state of balance. The findings are used to find a suitable approach for your program.

Your program and therapies are selected according to your individual needs.

Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, Ayurveda considers your constitution, lifestyle and overall wellbeing. Your physician guides you towards the therapies and practices appropriate for your journey.

Allow time for appropriate food, rest, gentle movement and mindful practices.

Your time at Preksha is designed to create space for slowing down and turning your attention inward. Nourishing meals, yoga, meditation and time in nature become part of the experience.

Post-treatment guidance can help you continue supportive diet and lifestyle practices after your stay.

Taking these simple practices home can help you maintain the mindful routines developed during your program.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Few Things To Know

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of knowledge focused on health, balance and wellbeing, traditionally considering the relationship between the body, mind, environment and lifestyle.

Do I need to be unwell to experience Ayurveda?

Not necessarily. Preksha's current Ayurveda information describes Panchakarma as something that may also be undertaken by healthy individuals, although suitability should be assessed by the Ayurvedic physician.

How do I know which Ayurveda program is right for me?

Your choice can depend on your goals, available time and individual needs. For Panchakarma, Preksha recommends an individualized protocol following assessment rather than selecting procedures independently.

Can I practise yoga during an Ayurveda program?

Yes, depending on your program and treatment. Gentle yoga and walking are described as appropriate during Panchakarma, while strenuous exercise is discouraged.

Is Ayurveda suitable for everyone?

Suitability depends on the individual and the specific treatment. Certain groups may not be suitable for particular Panchakarma procedures, so consultation with the Ayurvedic physician is important.

What should I expect from an Ayurveda stay at Preksha?

Your experience may combine Ayurvedic consultation and therapies with yoga, meditation, nourishing vegetarian meals, rest and time in the peaceful Ashram surroundings. The exact experience depends on the program you choose.
